Ingrown hairs? Are they a disease?

I seems to be a sucker for ingrown hairs. Anywhere that i have hair, i seem to get them. Face, eyebrow, behind ear, a little under ear lobe on neck, pubic area, middle of chest, etc. Why do i get these? I dont shave my chest, i do shave my face, and i do trim pubic region. I've tried using single blade razors on my face. and what's up with this ingrown hair that i keep getting behind my ear lobe. it comes and it goes, but never goes away? i'm not positive that they are ingrown hairs, but i'm assuming that they are, and they are often huge and painful when pressure is applied. the ones in the middle of my chest really annoy me. they look like a third nipple. do i have a disease? is there something wrong with my skin? should i apply lotion everywhere after every shower? i know the basics, so please try to provide beneficial info that i may not have read about already, or personal tips. should i see a doctor? thanks for your time.

Ingrown hairs? Are they a disease?

Sounds like they are ingrown hairs, and if they are, it sucks, hard to get rid of. On your face you might start using electric shavers so they dont cut down so far to the follicles.

Anywhere else just exfoliate every shower and maybe get a body scrub/wash with salycic acid.(neutrogena makes a couple)

If you are shaving or plucking an area you don't need to just leave it alone for now.

If it's as huge an irritation as it sounds laser hair removal is an option, and they let you make payments.

We aren't dermatologists though and whether this issue is ingrown hairs or it's not, that's who you really need to talk to. They may have something for this by now, it is NOT hopeless. ;)

Ingrown hairs? Are they a disease?

Do you have curly hair? If so, that is the root of your ingrown hair problem. When the hair starts to grow again, sometimes it curls before it breaks the skin causing the hair to be ingrown. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Ingrown hairs? Are they a disease?

ingrown hair isnt a disease, it can happen to anyone and they're hard to prevent. I've had a Few myself and they can be a pain.

Check out this website, it might help to prevent them.

Ingrown hairs? Are they a disease?

No ingrown hairs are Not a Disease.

I get them sometimes, when the hair curls and unable to break the skin. Not much you can do about it.

You can see a doctor but there is not much they can do about it.

Ingrown hairs? Are they a disease?

its not a disease...you are just prone to them

one thing that can help is using a scrub-brush/loofah with a strong exfoliant while in the shower. might be able to break open your pores before the hair grows inside them....
